Sanitas acquires majority stake in Spanish IVF company Ginemed

Summary

Sanitas, Bupa’s Spanish business, has signed the contract to acquire a majority stake in Ginemed, one of Spain’s main players in In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF), with over 25 years’ experience. Ginemed has a network of 18 IVF clinics in Spain and Portugal and employs 200 people.

Jesús Bonilla, General Manager of Sanitas Hospitals, PPPs and New Services, commented: "We are delighted to welcome Ginemed to the Sanitas family. We share the same principles of quality healthcare, scientific rigor and focus on customers".

With the incorporation of Ginemed, Sanitas increases its presence in a health sector with strong growth prospects in Spain. Ginemed clinics will join the Sanitas Hospitales' network, which is currently formed by four hospitals and a network of 20 medical clinics throughout the country. The Sanitas network has become the benchmark for excellence and innovation in Spain: it has the Joint Commission International quality certification, EFQM +650 accreditation and has been awarded two European Excellence Awards from the European Quality Foundation in 2015 and 2017, and the QH *** awards from the Foundation for the Integration and Development of Health (IDIS), among others.
