Empowering our female employees in Max Bupa
At Bupa we promote a diverse and inclusive culture that celebrates our differences and empowers our people to deliver exceptional experiences for our customers.
As an international healthcare company, it's crucial that our workforce represents the communities in which we operate, and the customers we serve. Core to our success is our people, and we value the different perspectives that arise from a diverse workforce.
For Max Bupa, our associate business in India, encouraging a workplace that promotes gender diversity is particularly important. In recent years, India has seen a decline in female participation in the workforce. Though enrolment in higher education has increased considerably, only 27% of Indian women were in employment as of 2017. Therefore, as an employer in this climate, Max Bupa is committed to providing equal opportunities for female employees and strengthening female representation across their organisation.
In 2017 Max Bupa introduced a new category to its annual employee awards, specifically acknowledging its female employees’ significant contributions to business performance, and showcasing their strong leadership in an industry traditionally dominated by males.
Tanvi Jain, one of the recipients of a CEO Award, joined Max Bupa as a General Manager in the Internal Audit team six years ago. Known amongst her colleagues for her drive and determination, she brings passion and commitment to her work that inspires the rest of her team to do the same.
Tanvi said: "I am honoured to receive the CEO Award and I am especially proud to be recognised alongside my colleagues, Rati and Anooja. I hope that by continuing to recognise strong female leaders in Max Bupa, we can set an example for other employers and encourage more capable young women into employment."
Other award recipients included Rati Dwain and Anooja Sodhi, who work in the Human Resources and Customer Experience teams respectively.
Ashish Mehrotra, Max Bupa Managing Director and CEO, said: "We are proud of the gender balance across our functions and leadership teams at Max Bupa, and we recognise the extraordinary impact this has on our business performance. Congratulations to Tanvi, Rati and Anooja."
