Brits putting their health on a shelf over Christmas

Summary

New research by Bupa UK has found seven in 10 British employees deprioritise health during Christmas, ignoring issues from 12 December to 2 January. 

The findings are backed by data from Bupa UK's telephone self-referral service, Direct Access, that shows a significant fall in consultant bookings for cancer (-64%), mental health (-21%) and musculoskeletal (-39%) in December compared to other months of the year. Dr Luke James, Bupa UK Insurance, said: "The Christmas period is often a busy time for people, both at home and at work so things inevitably drop off the to-do list."
